City Girl Life: Let's Catchup

It's Day-16 of my return to the game and the gameplay is a lot smoother this time around. Not only that but a new living space was released that has high tier requirements; more on this later. My in-game careers during the last game session were as follows:

  • Completed Fashion Designer and Chef career paths
  • Started four different careers
  • Artist Career, one of the four, was close to finished

Top accomplishment: staying in game longer than five minutes. It's not meant to be snarky, but the fact of the matter is that it took forever and a day for the game to load when I signed on last. Loading is quicker, however, there are a few bumps here and there.

A good bit of my career skills were already built up, but the recent additions at the time still needed development. Can't recall specifics, but during the gaming session prior to my hiatus, the new skills added related to the new careers of Detective, UL Engineer and Artist. Of the three, Artist was further along in regards to skills and career as I took a heightened interest in the field.

In case it wasn't mentioned, each career has two major tasks that must be completed. Task 1: Complete the Career Story found in the mission list on the left of the game screen; it's where the Daily and Weekly Missions are located. Task 2: Mastery of all jobs within each promotion stage.

I've played City Girl Life (CGL) since it was under Playdom and under a different name; previously Disney City Girl. Of the missions that surfaced, the trip to Venice and the Extra Life Fundraiser were favorites. Since the return, only mission was sampled, but not completed.

New Additions

There's always something new in game in regards to fashions and furniture. The most requested in game item was a new living space which we got. It's a nice apartment on the waterfront called the Hudson Riviera. There was a bit of sticker shock when everyone saw the 197 Gold price tag.

It was pointed out that the price was the way it was in case you didn't meet the pre-requesites of 44 job promotions. The total career promotions are as follows:

  • Fashion Designer - 8 Promotions
  • Chef - 8 Promotions
  • Detective - 8 Promotions
  • Author - 8 Promotions
  • Artist - 8 Promotions
  • Musician - 8 Promotions
  • UL Engineer - 3 Promotions

In order to meet the promotion requirements, you will have to complete 5 - 6 of the eight promotion careers. After the promotions is anyone's guess at this point because not many are disclosing specific details outside the need for glam. New living quarters aside, I set back to work in hopes of making it to the 44 promo benchmark.

It's been so long that I forgot most of the jobs require the assistance of neighbors to access. By assistance, I talking about asking for recommendations. When recommendations aren't required, having a high enough skill level is; which varies per promotion level.

The main gripe that I have as far as careers go, is that there is no auto fill option in place. An auto fill option is where a request help slot gets filled automatically by an NPC every x-amount of time. For example, Gala Stories had it where Nicole will fill in a slot every 4-hours.

Would be such a relief and weight lifting experience if they would implement something of this nature in the game. Since it's not in place I have to rely on responses from neighbors or shell out gold which is not granted in large quantities nor guaranteed from spins.

City Girl Life At the Moment

I'm still playing and focusing on doing what I can with what's at my disposal. It's a great game with lots of potential. We got a new living space, new clothes, new furniture and an ever growing community of creative individuals with loads of patience which was skillfully demonstrated in the Halloween Decoration Community Challenge.

There are a lot of would likes but my top three are auto fill for request tasks, reduced job and crafting times along with missions that aren't craft heavy. Still have some ways to go before the 44 goal, but hope to have something to report in regards to what's needed after that milestone.
