Lazy Naming Conventions: A Games for Girls History
Behold! It's the good, the bad and the lazy!
A strange intro based on facts; namely of me not thinking clearly at the time of this blogs inception. As strange starts go, this series of posts were the result of a site closure. I played around with the idea of blogging after one of my pieces dropped in rank and thus transferred it over to its own blogosphere.
It had its own following due to it being a review of a book that was based on a popular gaming series of the time. After that, the leap was made to start up a blog based on a series of articles I wrote on funding higher education. Then after that the blog you see here: Games for Girls 18 and Older.
The title pretty much sprung from a collective series of articles written that focused on electronic games. There was one for the kiddies and one for the rest.
Come January 2015 I played around with the idea of throwback posts; posts that focused on games from back in the day that I myself have played. The first throwback discussed was Yoshi's Island for the Super NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). Though when you look at the posting year as a whole it seems like all but two focused on past games.
There was a late start in 2016 but managed to post eight articles over a span of three months. It was also a season of firsts; work was mainly in the fall and early winter. My first mobile game review was Blossom Blast Saga and my first semi-extensive MMORPG review was Nidia.
December 30, 2016 to January 1, 2017 featured a 3-day weekend dedicated to three games from three different platforms that were top favorites during down time; i.e. major time eaters. Bejeweled 3 (PC) was the published first followed by the Chronicles of the Sword game mode from Soul Calibur 3 (PS2). Spyro Year of the Dragon Game Demo (PSone) made the list and was the finale for the 3-day weekend event.
From January to March 2017 six posts were published with the last being a summary post. Of the posts for that time frame, Mortal Kombat Armageddon was the only one that didn't contain imagery. I have pictures somewhere that I took of my custom fighters but haven't a clue as to their whereabouts.
The first extensive post for the month was Addicting Demos as it highlighted several demo games from the PSone and PS2 systems; PSone is used because that was the system I had at the time. JamPack CD (late 90s) and PSU Demo Special were the main demo discs that were in my possession at the time. Of the games sampled on those discs one was purchased prior to summer break and one was gifted to me by a friend.
Between 2004 and 2011 I got two additional demo discs - one in the mail and one from my Sims 2 console game purchase. The demos for SC3 and Jak-X lead to the full version purchase of both games. From April on through December posts were done for:
Out of all the posts, the mock Fashion Week posts were a major step out of my familiarity zone; but the show went on. The initial goal was to post something everyday during that week but after looking into the games that were going to be featured, things were cut back to just three posts; wasn't aware that some of the games I wanted to feature were discontinued. City Girl Life, Fashland, Gala Stories and Mall World were featured in the showcase with six fashion styles highlighted during the event.
G4G Fashion Week featured two slide-style videos showcasing fashions for the themes from the four highlighted fashion houses. Music for the showcases was provided by Epidemic Sound and the video was compiled in MS Movie Maker. The fashion week posts were possibly one of those rare moments where creativity was let loose.
What can be said about 2019 thus far? Let's see...there was a post on my newest gaming addiction called Farmville Tropic Escape of which I play on Facebook. This version is a breath of fresh air and a joy to play when others don't ruin the experience.
In addition to this, there was a light discussion on what was being worked on since my last check-in followed by a post on some observations made during round three of my Hero Wars restart. I even got around to discussing my time clock journals but one of the most anticipated posts was on a soon to be released HTML5 game called Mad World MMO. I'm excited because it's in a format that I've had promising experiences with and based on the promos it's bound to be a thrilling experience.
From 2014 to 2019, there have been many posts that focused on games I'm interested in, have played and have seen previews for during debuts. There have been countless experiments in regards to what and how I should go about a particular posting topic. The end results vary but the experience was an interesting if not learning filled one.
I'm hoping to publish more articles but at the moment plans for June and July are done yet there's nothing on the calendar for May as of yet; don't ask how this happened it just did. I'm trying to stay consistent with the one post a week thing but there's a lot of stuff that's surfacing out of the blue. No worries, I'll plan better and look forward to making your acquaintances again in the upcoming month.

2014 to 2017: Roller Coaster Madness
August 2014 was the launch month for the G4G18+ blog. For the months that work was posted in, a total of 8 games were discussed with two being home console based. Of the posts Halo and WoW were the only two games were never played extensively outside of test runs.Come January 2015 I played around with the idea of throwback posts; posts that focused on games from back in the day that I myself have played. From Here to December
This blog was born from the ashes of rehash and corniness. It got it's name from an old article that was converted into coherent posts. Later it came into its own through some interesting gaming experiences. From 2014 to 2019, there have been many posts that focused on games I'm interested in, have played and have seen previews for during debuts.
