Hero Wars: Hero Leveling Gone Awry
In past posts, hero leveling progress was shared. From a distance the numbers look good; however, on closer inspection a nightmare is unveiled. Everything is a mess.
Main Account: Facebook
To clarify, everything on my main account is a hot mess. There was no game plan nor sense of direction. I just picked heroes that seemed familiar and worked with them.
My tactic was to have at least one tank, a healer and a damage dealer. The other two slots were up for grabs even if they were filled with less than desirable heroes. Makes you wonder how I managed to stay in the game, yet alone a guild.
This is going into my fourth year of playing, and only recently have things begun to turn around. Meaning my team of heroes are formed with more of a purpose, rather than reckless abandon. Galahad is still my go to tank and is the only hero that has majority of their stuff maxed.
While examining my hero lineup, there were a lot of heroes where a lot of resources went into upgrading them, but the heroes aren't used often. It was confusing to say the least until I remembered past events that required upgrading of said heroes in order to earn resources of the likes of Enchantment Runes and Skin Stones.
Hero Lineup
Galahad Orange +3 |
- Aurora
- Maya
- Nebula
- Keira
- Astrid & Lucas
- Celeste
- Cornelius
- Faceless (last minute addition)
My secondaries when something doesn't go right are Martha, Ziri and Thea. Nothing about this group makes sense to the trained eye, but these are the heroes that have some upgrades to them. All my other heroes aren't up to par for usage, yet they come in handy for team fight practice.
The Titans
Not much has changed with my titans with the exception of level upgrades. All normal and super titans are unlocked. Half of my titans are Absolute Star; 4 of the remaining six are close to absolute status.
The fire totem is the only totem at my disposal. Artifacts and titan levels are moving at a snails pace. Dungeon is barely touched because, for me at least, it freezes too much.
Tournament of the Elements is the same. Haven't placed in an emerald earning tier since it first came out but at least I'm earning scrolls.
And Then There's Pets
Blue Level Pets - FB |
Yes, I'm doing pet adventures but the rewards are random and portal charges few. There has been lots of thought and requests for a solo version of Pet Adventures. The response always revolves around wanting to encourage a team mentality.
That said, it was granted with the long awaited pet event that launched on March 11 local time. I like how we were able to earn action points and were rewarded with chaos particles and pet chests. The downside of the event was that bonus chests were random and you couldn't really get and use all of the action points as they were tied to tasks that weren't doable for everyone.
Seeing how the solo approach works, it would be nice to see this option applied to everyday Pet Adventures.
Second Account: Web S1
Hero Team, Server 1 |
Not only this, but my heroes were built up quicker too. A few months here is my main's equivalent to years. My main team for this account includes:
- Qing Mao
- Daredevil
- Lian
- Andvari
- Galahad (swap with Yasmine)
- Yasmine (swap with Galahad)
Yasmine and Galahad are swapped because they're the only two that were worked on outside of the main four. My focus was QM, DD, Li, and Andi solely because I couldn't decide who I wanted as a fifth team member. Focus was on Galahad because he's in front of Andvari.
When Yasmine was introduced, work began on her so that I could earn resources from the event. I was going to stop but found that she worked pretty well in the group. Since I didn't want to give up Galahad, I kept both just in case.
The Revised Hero Team
Despite starting strong, I made a mistake that mirrored my main account: worked on too many heroes. Fortunately, it was caught in time and I was able to get out of the hole before it was too late. As mentioned above, focus is on my main five.
Unlike my first account, the main five got upgraded at a faster rate. I first started playing on the Web platform February 2019. As highlighted in my March 2019 post, 2-3 days here was the equivalent of 11-months on my main when it came to star levels.
Early October 2019 I got one hero to Absolute Star; that's 8-months. In contrast, it took 2-years to get one hero to that point on my FB account (there was a miscalculation in a past post).
Modified Titans
My approach to titans stayed the same. The difference this time around was that I got a super titan (Hyperion) early. Another big difference is that they were pretty much neglected but got lots of attention when the revamped Titan Events surfaced.
Like the first account, I just have a single totem and it's for my water titans.
Some Pets
I have all the pets unlocked. Axel is the only one that is 3-stars and Fenris is the only one that's Blue. Everybody else is 2-star and below Blue level.
Like FB, I participated in the Pet Event. The progress was slightly better but still pretty bad. I did manage to get some chests.
Third Account: Web - Started As F2P
This account was the focus of the Raiding Mad post from August 2020. It was a F2P (Free-2-Play) attempt to see how far I could get, along with the type of progress I could make within a 2-week time frame. At the time, I was on a new server.
New servers had bonus tasks that rewarded valuable resources. In this case, I got extra Nebula soul stones since she was Hero of the Month. Within the first 3-days, Nebula was summoned from the Hero Chest at 1-Star.
Unlike the first two accounts, I knew with certainty the type of team I wanted to build. In addition to this, I stuck with the five heroes that would make up my main team. F2P was the goal of this account; however, I became VIP 1 during the Halloween 2020 event.
As an added bonus, I was gifted a Raid Ticket from Winter Claus.
A Decent Hero Team
Second Web Acct Heroes |
- Nebula
- Astaroth
- Artemis
- Thea
- Aurora
The team doesn't change much; however, from time to time I will switch Thea for Helios. I don't do it often so not much changes. A major change was to make sure everyone got their gear slots filled.
When a hero gets all six slots filled, work begins on the next hero. After all (30 total) slots are full, then everyone gets upgraded at the same time. It was nice at the start, but after reaching Blue to Blue +1 it got a little tricky since not everyone met the level requirements for each gear item.
Also, I was able to get a hero to Absolute Star within four to five months. Still not sure how I managed that but Astaroth is the only hero at this level. Thanks to this, the Soul Shop was unlocked early.
I paid more attention to things on this account when compared to the others. Focus is on my main team which means they are the only ones with artifacts, glyphs and Gift of the Elements leveled. Same goes for their skins, but it's a balancing act as two heroes require Strength and Agility stones respectively.
Their levels are the same but there was a mishap during the recent Pet Event. I clicked on the wrong button while doing campaigns to get gear and wound up spending a lot of energy which shot my team level up. It wasn't pleasant, but it did bring the glyphs into focus.
I knew that the max level increased at some point; yet, I didn't realize it did this two different times. Glyph Level 30 was the max for a while but after getting a hero to Level 60, the max level increases to 40 and after 100 it increases to 50. Normally I wouldn't notice this; however, my Astaroth had two glyphs maxed out. After upping his level to equip an item, those maxed glyphs were no longer maxed.
Fortunately I caught the change before touching the other three; Nebula was already there with Astaroth. Thanks to my modified approach, a second team was built and all but one are Violet +1; nothing else is upgraded outside of their first skill.
Balanced Titans
Web Titans - Same Level (sort of) |
Everyone is three stars and the titan artifacts haven't been touched. The first and last time they were touched was through the tutorial when Titan Valley got unlocked. Other than that, focus is solely on my heroes.
This is highly evident through the amount of summoning spheres I have in my inventory. Not only summoning spheres, but titan skin stones.
That One Pet
Pets with Blue Level Cain |
Of the collection, Cain is the only pet that is Blue and has three stars. A major change after my second account was to focus on a single pet. In a past post, it was suggested to work on all of the pets.
This isn't ideal especially if you're in a guild of one. To make the most of your limited resources, pick a pet that compliments your main team and stick with them. Based on my adventure experience on my main account, Adventure 8 will likely be the final adventure for going solo.
Like the others, there was participation in the Pet Event. Unlike the others, progress was much smoother and orderly. I got all but two chests .
I was going to continue with the event until I saw the damage that was done when I clicked the wrong raid button.
Noteworthy Observations
My third restart brought a lot of details to light that weren't even noted in the previous two accounts. I went from not knowing what I was doing, to having a better idea for assembling a team. Once my team was assembled, everything else fell in place.
Since everyone on account three leveled up together, completing daily tasks wasn't a chore. It also meant that XP Potions were in ample supply. Tower was completed daily with no issue and I racked up gold and other tower rewards daily.
Moreover, my focus was only on five heroes which meant gold and other resources went a long way. I worked on individual glyphs till they were maxed before moving on to the next one. Gear and gear fragments were purchased from the shop when available and collected from the tower.
Titans were ignored outside of leveling which left more resources for heroes. When it came to pets, focus was placed on one rather than all. Chaos particles went further along with pet potions.
Glimpse into Inventory |
My resources are in ample supply and unfortunately I can't say the same for the other two accounts. Account three is the only account where everything is accounted for. This would be the first where no resources were wasted.
This includes soul stones. On the other accounts, I wound up selling some to get gold for upgrades. It wasn't necessary this time around as I had some to spare.
Early equipment and gear collecting helped a great deal as I had the needed items before they were needed.
Going Forward
I will continue with my accounts. The first is getting doctored even though it's almost beyond repair. The second is stabilizing enough to where I can play catch up in the neglected areas.
Focus needs to go back to Tower participation and dungeon. Pet Adventures is iffy due to the portal charge limitations and random item drops. Really looking forward to the Anniversary Event as it's a chance to collect valuable resources
Hoping to reach more milestones as I continue to play and learn new things.
